CITY OF CRANSTON

 

LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE

IS SUNDAY, JANUARY 31, 2021

The Cranston Board of Canvassers, located in Cranston City Hall, Room 100, 869 Park Ave, Cranston, RI, will be open to accept voter registrations and address changes on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Any resident who is not already a registered voter and wishes to vote in the Rhode Island Special Election being held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 must register by the deadline of Jan. 31, 2021 to be eligible to vote in the Special Election. New registrations, name and address updates, and party changes can also be submitted online at vote.ri.gov until 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2021.

 

MAIL BALLOT APPLICATION DEADLINE

Any registered voter wishing to vote by mail-in ballot in the March 2, 2021 Rhode Island Special Election must submit a mail ballot application to the Cranston Board of Canvassers, located in Cranston City Hall, Room 100, 869 Park Ave, Cranston, RI, no later than 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021.

 

FINAL CANVASSING OF CRANSTON VOTER LIST

The Cranston Board of Canvassers will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021 at 4 p.m. This meeting will be conducted electronically under the provisions of the Governor’s Executive Order 20-46. Meeting details for public access, including a web link and access phone number, will be posted at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting on the City of Cranston’s official website: www.cranstonri.gov. Anyone interested in participating in the meeting may also call the Canvassing Department at 401-780-3128 to receive meeting access details. The meeting is for the purpose of canvassing the Preliminary List of Cranston Voters, and to hear objections to the inclusion or omission of any person as a registered voter, and to make a Final Canvass and correction of the voter registration file for the Rhode Island Special Election that is to take place on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. The Preliminary List of Cranston Voters will be posted on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021 in the Canvassing Department Office, Room 100 in Cranston City Hall, 869 Park Ave, Cranston, RI, and will also be posted for public inspection on the City of Cranston website, www.cranstonri.gov. An updated list will be reposted on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021.

 

EMERGENCY “EARLY” VOTING PERIOD

For the March 2, 2021 Special Election, Cranston City Hall, 869 Park Ave, will be open for emergency “early” voting for voters during business hours from Feb. 10 through March 1, which are weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for Feb. 15, when City Hall will be closed for the President’s Day holiday. The emergency voting deadline is 4 p.m. on Monday, March 1. All voters should use the side entrance of City Hall next to Cranston East for all voting and elections business. No appointment is required. Voters must wear a mask, and should bring a photo ID when appearing to vote an emergency ballot.

 

MAIL BALLOT DROP BOXES AND RETURN DEADLINE

Voters may mail their voted ballots back in the provided postage prepaid envelope, or drop them off in the sealed envelope to either of the two 24-hour mail ballot drop boxes located in Cranston: at City Hall, 869 Park Ave. (located outdoors, in the front of the building); or at the RI Board of Elections, 2000 Plainfield Pike (located in the BOE parking lot off of the Sailor Way entrance). Completed mail ballots may also be returned to drop boxes at all polling locations on March 2 between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Your ballot must be received (not postmarked) in an official drop box, or received by the Board of Elections, no later than 8 p.m. on March 2 in order to be counted.

 

POLLING LOCATIONS

The City of Cranston is opening limited polling locations for the March 2 Special Election for voters who wish to vote in person – voting hours on Tuesday, March 2 are from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Any Cranston registered voter may vote at the polling place of their choice: SCOTTISH RITE MASONIC LODGE (2115 Broad St); PETER T. PASTORE, JR. YOUTH CENTER (155 Gansett Ave); or RI NATIONAL GUARD BUILDING – SCHOFIELD ARMORY (705 New London Ave).
