Dog Licenses

Pursuant to Chapter 6.08.030 of the Code of Ordinances, every dog owner or keeper residing in the City of Cranston shall license each dog with the City Clerk, as prescribed by law, within 30 days of residency in the city.  A valid rabies vaccination certificate must be presented.  Licenses renew annually in the month of April, effective May 1.  The annual fee per license shall be $13 per dog, $2 of which shall be used to enforce laws pertaining to animals and $1 of which shall fund a low-cost spay and neuter program (in accordance with R.I. Gen. Laws), with the exception of senior citizens who shall, upon proof that they have attained the age of 65, pay the fee of $10 per dog.  License fees are not prorated or refunded.

Failure to maintain the required license is subject to penalty.
